For a brief description of each activity code, access the NIH publication,
Activity Codes, Organization Codes, and Definitions Used in Extramural
Programs , at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/ac.pdf.
All of the grant mechanisms listed above, except the R01, have NIH or NINDS-
specific program guidelines. Interested applicants should refer to the NINDS
web site at www.ninds.nih.gov for program guidelines or contact an NINDS
program director in advance of preparing an application. A complete listing
of program director contacts may be found at:
http://www.ninds.nih.gov/find_people/ninds/organization.htm
Applicants planning to submit a grant application requesting $500,000 or more
in direct costs for any year are required to discuss their eligibility with a
NINDS program director before submitting the application. Furthermore, the
applicant must obtain agreement from the NINDS program director that the
NINDS will accept the application for consideration of award. Finally, the
applicant must identify, in a cover letter sent with the application, the
program director who agreed to accept assignment of the application. This
policy requires an applicant to obtain agreement for acceptance of both any
such application and any subsequent amendment. Refer to the NIH Guide for
Grants and Contracts, March 20, 1998, which is available at
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/not98-030.html.
