Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to amend the Funding Opportunity Description for PAR-22-231 "NINR Areas of Emphasis for Research to Optimize Health and Advance Health Equity (R21 Clinical Trial Optional)" as shown below:

Part. 2. Section I, Funding Opportunity Description

Non-Responsive Applications

Current Language:

Applications with the following attributes will be deemed non-responsive and will not be reviewed:

  • Studies of cellular function, physiological mechanisms, or gene/protein structures or relationships
  • Drug development research, including natural substances and dietary supplements research
  • Toxicology studies
  • Pharmacological interventions
  • Studies involving animal models
  • Studies on symptoms, symptom management, self-management, or individual health behaviors without consideration of context, i.e., meaningful incorporation of NINR research lenses in the conceptual underpinnings of the study

  • Biological studies (e.g., cellular function, physiological mechanisms, or gene/protein structures or relationships) that do not fully integrate one or more NINR research lenses into the conceptual underpinnings and aims of the study.

  • Pharmacological interventions
  • Studies involving animal models
