National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR)

NINR supports research that builds the scientific foundation for nursing practice, policy, and health care across clinical and community settings, and advances the prevention, detection, and management of disease and disability across the lifespan. NINR seeks to support research that draws on nursing’s holistic perspective and integrates factors at multiple levels to identify approaches that will improve the health of AI/AN individuals, families, and communities.

NINR is interested in projects including, but not limited to, those that:

  • Focus on the role of social determinants of health
  • Build research capacity and develop nurse scientists of the future
  • Have practice and policy applications
