NRSA INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH TRAINING GRANTS (T32) NINR
Release Date: January 28, 2000
NOTICE: NR-00-001
National Institute of Nursing Research
The Notice NIH National Research Service Award Institutional Research
Training Grants, NOT-97-007, was published in the NIH Guide on May 16,
1997, and is located at
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOTICE-NOT-97-007.html
It seeks to encourage eligible institutions to develop or enhance
research training opportunities for individuals, selected by the
institution, who are training for careers in specified areas of
biomedical and behavioral research. The National Institute of Nursing
Research (NINR) views the T32 as one way to ensure that nurse
scientists, highly trained in nursing research, are available in
adequate numbers to address important gaps in our biological and
behavioral understanding of clinical problems.
In addition to the diverse scientific areas that may be the focus of
the institutional training grant, this Notice seeks to encourage
potential T32 applicants to consider two particular areas of inquiry
this year: genetics and health disparities of underserved populations.
These two areas have recently been identified by NINR and approved by
the National Advisory Council of Nursing Research as specific areas of
scientific opportunity appropriate for research training at the
predoctoral and postdoctoral level.
Please note that T32 applications for the National Institute of Nursing
Research are accepted annually for the receipt date of May 10.
Inquires are encouraged. The NINR website lists program directors who
can assist prospective applicants in diverse areas of scientific
opportunity: http://www.ninr.nih.gov/a_staff.html
