Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to add “Applications Not Responsive to this NOFO” in Section I of RFA-MH-25-171, BRAIN Initiative: Research on the Ethical Implications of Advancements in Neurotechnology and Brain Science (R21 Clinical Trial Optional).

The following text has been added to RFA-MH-25-171

Section I. Funding Opportunity Description 

Applications Not Responsive to this NOFO

Applications proposing the study of specific disease mechanisms, or existing disease therapeutics and treatments, or focused on bioethical issues that are not central to or derived from the cutting-edge research supported by the BRAIN Initiative will be considered non-responsive to this NOFO and will not be reviewed. Studies for the investigation of bioethics issues associated with specific diseases and disorders, or the mechanisms of such diseases should be directed to the appropriate NIH Institutes.

All other aspects of RFA-MH-25-171 remain unchanged.
