Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to announce the termination of two subcommittees of the National Institute of Mental Health Initial Review Group (NIMH IRG): Interventions Committee for Adult Disorders (ITVA) and Interventions Committee for Disorders Involving Children and Their Families (ITVC). The third subcommittee, Mental Health Services Research Committee (SERV), will continue as an active subcommittee.

As NIMH now requires all applications that contain a clinical trial to respond to one of the NIMH issued FOAs seeking Clinical Trials (see NOT-MH-14-007 and the NIMH Clinical Trials Web page for further details), the number of applications referred to ITVA and ITVC has decreased substantially. It is no longer practical to maintain these two committees as standing committees. Effective immediately, applications such as intervention research-focused career award applications and those responding to PA-13-216 Research on Autism Spectrum Disorders (R01) and PA-14-334 Advancing Interventions to Improve Medication Adherence (R01) , to name a few, will be reviewed in a Special Emphasis Panel(s) conducted by NIMH.
