Purpose

On March 14, 2014, NIMH issued Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) PAR-14-153 "Temporal Dynamics of Neurophysiological Patterns as Potential Targets for Treating Cognitive Deficits in Brain Disorders (R01)". The purpose of this Notice is to correct information contained in the "Section V. Application Review Information" of the cited FOA as described below.

Part 2. Section V.2 Review and Selection Process

Current text reads:
Applications will be assigned on the basis of established PHS referral guidelines to the appropriate NIH Institute or Center. Applications will compete for available funds with all other recommended applications submitted in response to this FOA. Following initial peer review, recommended applications will receive a second level of review by the appropriate National Advisory Council or Board. The following will be considered in making funding decisions:

  • Scientific and technical merit of the proposed project as determined by scientific peer review.
  • Availability of funds.
  • Relevance of the proposed project to program priorities.

Replacement text should read:

The following will be considered in making funding decisions:

  • Relevance of the proposed project to program priorities.
  • Adequacy of fit to at least one of the four topic areas described in Section I, "Research Objectives," namely, Topic 1:  Temporal dynamics of neural patterns that impact cognition;  Topic 2: Understanding how molecular aberrations lead to systems-level discoordination;  Topic 3: Animal-to-human translation;  or Topic 4: Computational modeling.
  • Adequate selection of specific, definable aspects of systems-level temporal dynamics or coordination.

All other aspects of this FOA remain the same.
