National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/)

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) announces that it is terminating PAR-05-109, which was released in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts on May 17, 2005. New applications for the K22 will NOT be accepted effective March 2, 2006 . Revisions of applications received before March 2, 2006 will continue to be accepted. Per NIH policy, each applicant can revise a K22 application two times after submission of the original application.

After March 2, 2006 , individuals who would have applied for the NIMH K22 award may consider instead the new NIH Pathway to Independence (PI) Award (K99/R00) PA-06-133, in which NIMH participates. The initial phase of the K99/R00 will provide 1-2 years of mentored support at an intramural or extramural U.S. institution for highly promising, postdoctoral research scientists. This phase will be followed by 1-3 years of independent support contingent on securing an independent research position at an extramural U.S. institution.
