Notice Number: NOT-MD-07-001
Release Date: April 23, 2007
National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD), (http://www.ncmhd.nih.gov/)
The purpose of this notice is to announce the intention to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) in May 2007 for funding the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) community-based participatory research (CBPR) initiative in reducing and eliminating health disparities - intervention research phase. This FOA will provide support for disease intervention research in reducing and eliminating health disparities using community-based participatory research that is jointly conducted by health disparity communities and researchers. The intent of this Notice is to alert and encourage current NCMHD CBPR planning grantees and other interested applicants who have CBPR expertise and have existing community and scientific research partnerships to consider applying to this FOA when published in the NIH Guide (http://www.nih.gov). In order to be considered to be responsive to this FOA, applicants who are not current NCMHD CBPR planning grantees must demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the required activities that are outlined in the research planning phase of this initiative. See RFA-MD-05-002 at http://grants2.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-MD-05-002.html.
This FOA will support the NCMHD goals of improving minority health and eliminating health disparities. The NCMHD CBPR initiative has three phases. It started with a three-year research planning grant (first phase) in 2005. It will be followed by a competitive five-year intervention research grant (second phase) which is the purpose of this current FOA. It will conclude with a competitive three-year research dissemination grant (third phase). Receipt of a research planning grant or intervention research grant does not guarantee obtaining the subsequent research intervention or dissemination grant. This FOA will invite applications for a five-year intervention research grant proposal. Budget pending, it is anticipated that approximately 20 awards will be made at a direct costs of $400,000 each award per year.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
