Update to AHRQ Administrative and Program Expansion Grant Supplement Policy

Notice Number: NOT-HS-08-009

Update: The following update relating to this announcement has been issued:

Key Dates
Release Date: May 23, 2008

Issued by
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), (http://www.ahrq.gov/)

The purpose of this notice is to inform the grantee community that AHRQ is updating its policy on grant supplements. AHRQ has previously described two types of grant supplemental funding for research grants, administrative supplements and program expansion supplements (see http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-HS-04-022.html and http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-HS-04-025.html). With this Notice, AHRQ announces that the Agency will not consider any requests for program expansion supplements, including minority supplements. AHRQ will consider requests for administrative supplements, which are requests for funds to cover unanticipated expenses that fall within the original scope of the approved grant. However, grantees may only request such administrative supplemental funding when it is absolutely necessary for the grant to be able to continue its activities. Supplemental funding requests will not be considered for any grant that is in a no cost extension year.
