AHRQ Suspends Funding for Program Expansion and Minority Supplements to Grants in FY2005

Notice Number: NOT-HS-05-006

Key Dates
Release Date: February 16, 2005

Issued by
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, (AHRQ), (http://www.ahrq.gov)

With this notice, AHRQ announces that, due to lack of funds, it will not fund any requests for program expansion supplements to grants in FY2005. Program expansion supplements include minority supplements.

AHRQ will continue to accept requests for administrative supplements to grants only in a case where the grant would be unable to continue without such supplemental resources. As discussed in the Policy Notice published July 7, 2003 (see http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-HS-04-022.html), administrative supplements are funds requested by the grantee, which will be used to cover unexpected cost increases for activities that fall within the original scope of the approved grant project. Any grantee who is considering submitting a request for an administrative supplement must discuss the nature of the request with the grant project officer prior to submission.

AHRQ will reassess this policy in FY2006 and publish updated guidance.
