Issued by
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
Purpose
This Notice provides updated information regarding allowable requested direct costs in PAR-13-316 "NHLBI Program Project Applications (P01)". NHLBI guidelines for Allowable Requested Direct Costs for Program Project Grants (P01s) have been revised to clarify that renewal (Type 2) P01 applications may request up to the direct cost (excluding first-tier subcontract Facilities and Administrative [F&A] costs) awarded for the last noncompetitive segment.
Current language
Award Budget |
Application budgets are not limited but it is recommended that applicants not request a budget of more than $1,515,000 in direct costs per year. Facilities and administrative costs requested by first tier consortium participants are not included in the direct cost (see NOT-OD-05-004). However, facilities and administrative costs for second tier consortium are included in the direct cost. Applicants should discuss equipment requests with NHLBI staff early in the planning phase and must receive permission from the Institute to include equipment costs in their budget request. Final decisions on equipment requests will depend on the nature of the justification and the Institute's fiscal situation. Renewal applications may request up to the recommended direct cost shown on the Notice of Award for the last noncompetitive segment. As with new awards, no annual increases in noncompeting years may be requested. |
