On February 27, 2006, the National Human Genome Research Institute issued an RFA: Public Consultation to Inform the Design of Possible Large-Scale Studies of Genes and Environment in Common Disease (U01); (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-06-008.html). The total funds available for this RFA have been increased. The NHGRI still expects to make one award, but now expects to award approximately $1.35 million in direct costs (ca. $2.1 million in total costs) over a two year period. Approximately $675,000 direct costs (ca. $1,050,000 total costs) will be awarded in FY2006 and approximately $675,000 direct costs (ca. $1,050,000 total costs) will be awarded in FY2007. The funding of this award will be contingent upon the availability of funds and the receipt of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
