Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants of a change in language in these Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) regarding the role of the intramural investigator.

The overarching goals of this program remain unchanged. The program will continue to promote collaborations between NIH intramural investigators (e.g., those conducting research within the labs and clinics of the NIH) and extramural investigators (e.g., those conducting research in labs outside the NIH), in a spirit of full partnership.

The terminology used to designate the collaborating intramural investigator, however, is changed in order to better align with NIH grants policy.

For this reason, specific language in the FOAs is hereby changed in the following 3 places:

A. Part I. Overview Information:

From

This program requires the full collaboration of the extramural PD/PI of the applicant institution and the intramural investigator.
