This Notice announces the participation of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) (http://www.nichd.nih.gov/) in PA-09-106 entitled Medications Development for the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women with Substance Related Disorders and/or In Utero Substance Exposed Neonates (R01) and PA-09-107 entitled Medications Development for the Treatment of Pregnant/Postpartum Women with Substance Related Disorders and/or In Utero Substance Exposed Neonates (R21) .

NICHD Statement of Interest: The NICHD is interested in research to improve the safety and efficacy of pharmacotherapeutics for pregnant/postpartum women with substance use disorders and/or in utero substance exposed neonates. Appropriate studies include research to examine pharmacokinetics, metabolism, disposition and pharmcodynamics of medications commonly used for the treatment of pregnant/postpartum women with substance use disorders and/or in utero substance exposed neonates. Studies on the mechanisms of adverse drug reactions to these medications are also encouraged.
