The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has a 
requirement for a Contractor to provide logistical, technical, and 
administrative support to maintain, coordinate, and manage a project entitled 
 NICHD International Pediatric and Perinatal HIV Studies Network Coordinating 
Center.   The Contractor should have the capabilities and facilities to 
continue the existing multi-site network of clinical centers conducting 
research on treatment, prevention, diagnosis, epidemiology, and natural 
history of HIV infection and disease in pediatric, adolescent, and maternal 
patient populations, including both domestic and international clinical sites.

Westat, Inc. of Rockville, Maryland is currently performing this work under 
NICHD contract number N01-HD-3-3162.  The Contractor shall furnish all the 
necessary services, qualified personnel, materials, equipment, and facilities 
needed to implement, maintain, coordinate, and manage a multi-site network of 
clinical centers to conduct current and future clinical trials for evaluation 
of investigational therapies, diagnostic techniques, prevention strategies, 
epidemiology, and natural history of multiple aspects of HIV infection and 
disease in pediatric, adolescent, and maternal patient populations, in 
addition to other tasks specified in the Statement of Work.

In addition, the Coordinating Center will be responsible for providing 
support to the clinical centers and handling all subcontracting arrangements 
with clinical centers.  The Request for Proposals, RFP-NIH-NICHD-2002-01, 
will be available on November 6, 2001, at 
http://www.nichd.nih.gov/funding/funding-opps_rfp.htm.  Responses will be due 
on February 6, 2002.

The requirement is defined as code 561110 under the North American Industry 
Classification System (NAICS).
