Purpose

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) is issuing this Notice to highlight interest in receiving grant applications focused on technology development related to cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET). Appropriate topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Instrumentation or tools for cryo-ET sample preparation (e.g. positioning of cells on grids, grids, grid handling);
  • Techniques and equipment for cryo-FIB milling;
  • Computational methods for data collection or image processing

Applicants may apply for any relevant award mechanism in which NIGMS participates. The Institute is particularly interested in applications on this topic to its R21-R01 Technology Development and Biomedical Technology Optimization and Dissemination Centers programs.  

Applications from multidisciplinary teams of investigators including microscopists, cell biologists, engineers, physicists, chemists, and computational scientists are encouraged.
