The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) in the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) at the National Science Foundation (NSF) plan to support fundamental research in mathematics and statistics necessary to answer questions in the biological and biomedical sciences. Both agencies recognize the need to promote research at the interface between mathematical and life sciences. This program is designed to encourage new collaborations, as well as to support innovative activities by existing teams. NIGMS and DMS anticipate making 15 to 25 awards totaling up to $5 million per year. Applications should be submitted to NSF (Program solicitation 20-575). Specific information concerning the application and review process is available at https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2020/nsf20575/nsf20575.htm
