Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to clarify the scoring procedures for applications submitted to PAR-17-190 "Maximizing Investigators' Research Award for Early Stage Investigators (R35)". Similar to previous FOAs for the MIRA program, reviewers will consider each of the review criteria in the determination of scientific merit but will not give a separate score for each. Accordingly, the following section of the FOA has been updated as indicated below.

Part 2. Section V. Application Review Information

1. Criteria

Current language:

Review Criteria

Reviewers will consider each of the review criteria below in the determination of scientific merit. An application does not need to be strong in all categories to be judged likely to have major scientific impact. For example, a program that by its nature is not innovative may be essential to advance a field.
