Purpose

With the approval of its Advisory Council, starting in 2014 the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) will begin transitioning research projects in the Pharmacogenomics Research Network (PGRN) into the regular research grant system. The Institute will continue to fund network activities designed to propel research and implementation, and NIGMS intends to coordinate its support of pharmacogenomics and personalized medicine with other Institutes, Centers, and Offices of the NIH.

All funded investigators who self-identify an interest in pharmacogenomics through these and other mechanisms may indicate a desire to participate in the network beginning in July 2015, assuming that a Coordinating Center is in place. Many network activities will be based upon the PGRN and other successful models; investigator input will be sought as the network is established.

Information will be posted and updated at this website: www.nigms.nih.gov/PGRN/transition.
