Purpose
This Notice clarifies the instructions in Section IV.2 under the topic "Instructions for the Submission of Multi-Component Applications" in RFA-GM-14-009 “Modeling of Infectious Disease Agent Study Centers of Excellence (U54).”
The instructions in RFA-GM-14-009 may be interpreted to require that materials common to multiple components of the application (e.g. biosketches and resource descriptions) must be included in each relevant subproject section of the application, resulting in multiple redundant copies. This is not the case. These materials should be presented one time, as indicated below.
Materials that are common to multiple projects (e.g. biosketches and resources descriptions) may be compiled in one location at the front of the application. Applications should include a comprehensive table of contents that makes it straightforward to find these materials. It is understood that many investigators will typically collaborate on multiple projects and cores in a program such as this.
This clarification applies to instances of a document that would be reproduced without changes and inserted multiple times in the application. Sections that are different for each project (e.g. budget pages and budget justification) may not be collapsed into a single item to save space.
