The purpose of this notice is to announce an update to the institutional eligibility criteria for the Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) awards (see PAR-06-548). Effective for the May 15, 2007 application submission/receipt date, community colleges which offer degree programs and curricula with a strong focus on biomedical or behavioral sciences are eligible to apply for a RISE grant. The maximum budget (annual direct costs) that can be requested in a RISE application from a community college is $250K. All other eligibility criteria, including that the institution has a student body that is 50% or more from groups underrepresented in biomedical or behavioral research, remain unchanged.
