ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPLEMENTS FOR FUNCTIONAL STUDIES BASED ON RESULTS OBTAINED IN THE PROTEIN STRUCTURE INITIATIVE RELEASE DATE: June 25, 2003 NOTICE: NOT-GM-03-108 APPLICATION RECEIPT DATE: Continuous National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) (http://www.nigms.nih.gov/) The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) announces the availability of administrative supplements to NIGMS-funded research grants (R01, R37, P01 and S06) to conduct projects which meet the following objectives: the research focuses on a protein of unassigned function that has nonetheless been well-characterized structurally by one of the NIGMS-supported Protein Structure Initiative (PSI) Centers; and the research seeks, through experimental approaches, to ascribe a biochemical function or cellular role to the protein. The purpose of this supplemental grant program is to provide funds to enable investigators interested in protein function to capitalize on the information and material products of the PSI. The supplemental funding must be for research activities that are related to the project supported by the parent grant and that do not expand its general scope. More complete information on this initiative can be found at http://www.nigms.nih.gov/funding/psi_supplements.html. INQUIRIES Written and telephone inquiries are strongly encouraged.
