COMPETING SUPPLEMENTS TO MBRS-FUNDED GRANTS RELEASE DATE: June 3, 2003 NOTICE: NOT-GM-03-105 National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) (http://www.nigms.nih.gov) APPLICATION RECEIPT DATES: February 1, June 1 and October 1 (same submission dates as for new and competing renewal MBRS applications) The Minority Biomedical Support Program (MBRS) of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) reminds MBRS-funded Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) and Support of Continuous Research Excellence (SCORE) grantees that they may apply for competing evaluation supplements. These supplements should be designed by the grantee institution to obtain resources for the expansion of meritorious areas of program evaluation that can add to the knowledge base of how and why different elements of an MBRS program work and thus contribute to achieving the program's goals and objectives. The proposed evaluation analysis should be related to the goals and objectives of the parent grant but should answer additional questions not contemplated in the scope of the original evaluation plan. As with all MBRS competing supplements, the grantee institution must have an active MBRS RISE or SCORE grant with at least 24 months of support remaining on the requested start date of the supplemental award. Requested start dates may not be sooner than 10 months after submission of the competing supplement application, and the supplement may not extend beyond the parent grant period. The Principal Investigator of the supplement must be the Program Director of the parent grant. Grantees may request funds for needed personnel/consultants in addition to services/materials required. A request that is solely for administrative personnel will not be considered. Applicable facilities and administrative costs will also be awarded. Receipt dates are the same as for the submission of competing/new MBRS grant applications. The application procedure is the same as for any competing MBRS supplemental application.
