AVAILABILITY OF ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPLEMENTS TO THE PHARMACOGENETICS RESEARCH NETWORK TO ADDRESS HEALTH DISPARITIES Release Date: April 3, 2001 NOTICE: NOT-GM-01-004 National Institute of General Medical Sciences The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) announces the availability of administrative supplements to Principal Investigators with cooperative agreements (U01) funded as part of the Pharmacogenetics Research Network and Knowledge Base. The purpose of these supplements is to foster research aimed at understanding pharmacogenetic differences among racial and ethnic groups. The aims of the supplements may be either to collect scientific information or to develop a sample resource. The long term goal is to generate information that can be utilized to address health disparities, as pharmacogenetic information is translated into improved recommendations for clinical practice. Any investigator at a domestic or foreign institution is eligible, however, a supplemental application must be affiliated with an existing U01 award and submitted by an organization that is funded through the Pharmacogenetics Research Network. These requests should not substantially change the scope of work of the sponsoring cooperative agreements. New projects that clearly increase the scope of an existing U01 award are not suitable for this administrative supplement, and must undergo the usual peer review process. For details, see http://www.nigms.nih.gov/pharmacogenetics/hdsupplements.html. The receipt date for supplement requests is July 16, 2001.
