NEW ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR INTEGRATIVE AND COLLABORATIVE APPROACHES TO 
RESEARCH APPLICATIONS

National Institute of General Medical Sciences

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) announces a 
modification to the eligibility requirements previously announced in PA-00-
099, http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-00-099.html, released May 
24, 2000.  The requirement that  Only Principal Investigators (PIs) of NIGMS-
funded R01 or R37 grants with two or more years of support remaining at the 
time of award can serve as a consortium leader  has been changed. NIGMS now 
requires that, in order to serve as an R24 consortium leader, one or more 
years of support must be remaining on the PI’s NIGMS-funded R01 or R37 grant 
at the time of R24 award. The new eligibility requirement will be effective 
starting with the February 1, 2001 receipt date.
