Notice Number: NOT-ES-10-002

Key Dates
Release Date:  December 1, 2009
Meeting Date:  December 9, 2009

Issued by
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), (http://www.niehs.nih.gov)

Purposes

One purpose of this Notice is to clarify a statement in the Other Special Eligibility Criteria section in RFA–ES-09-011.  The statement, “An institution may submit only one application,” should be interpreted to mean one application per school within a university or other institution may be submitted.  For instance, a school of medicine and school of public health from the same institution are eligible to submit applications.

The second purpose is to inform potential applicants that NIEHS will host a pre-application technical assistance “virtual” meeting for RFA–ES-09-011 on Wednesday, December 09, 2009 from 12:30-2:30 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST)

The purpose of the informational meeting is to provide technical assistance on and answer questions related to the preparation of applications in response to RFA–ES-09-011.  Potential applicants will be able to access the meeting by web and/or telephone. The meeting web address and phone number will be furnished upon registration. The meeting will begin with brief presentations from program, review and grants management staff, and then open into a question and answer session.

Participants should submit questions to ENMsRFA@niehs.nih.gov.  All questions submitted by email must be received by 5:00 p.m., EST, on December 7, 2009.  There will also be an opportunity for participants to submit questions that arise during the technical assistance meeting in real-time using the “Chat” function in Adobe Connect.

All researchers, community members and other persons interested in submitting an application in response to this RFA are strongly encouraged to attend the technical assistance meeting

Meeting Registration

Test 4, the Adobe Connect Add-In Test, is not required to participate in this meeting.

Frequently Asked Questions website for RFA-ES-09-001
Approximately 1-2 weeks after the technical assistance meeting, a set of answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the preparation of applications in response to RFA–ES-09-011 will be posted to a public website, in addition to the slides from NIEHS staff presentations given during the technical assistance meeting. All applicants are encouraged to review the FAQ’s and slide presentations prior to submitting their application. We anticipate updating these as needed and recommend that applicants check back for updates to the FAQs regularly until their submission date.

The answers to FAQs will be posted:  http://tools.niehs.nih.gov/conferences/dert/rfa/index.cfm
