The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), in collaboration with the US Environmental Protection Agency (http://es.epa.gov/), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/), and National Science Foundation (http://www.nsf.gov/), announces the publication of Nanotechnology Research Grants Investigating Environmental and Human Health Effects of Manufactured Nanomaterials: a Joint Research Solicitation-EPA, NSF, NIOSH, NIEHS.

This solicitation invites exploratory research similar to the R21 mechanism. Differences in research scope and funding criteria are outlined in the solicitation. The SF424 Research and Research Related (R&R) form is required. Applications are submitted to the EPA, and the guidance for submission is outlined in the announcement. The agency or institutes will select applications for funding based on a meritorious score and programmatic relevance. The final receipt date for new applications for this announcement is February 22, 2006 at 4:00pm Eastern Time.
