NOTICE OF LIMITED COMPETITION REQUEST FOR COMPETING APPLICATIONS: COLLABORATIVE CENTERS FOR PARKINSON’s DISEASE ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH RELEASE DATE: April 21, 2004 NOTICE: NOT-ES-04-007 National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) (http://www.niehs.nih.gov/) APPLICATION RECEIPT DATE: June 15, 2004 The NIEHS is requesting research application supplements from its Collaborative Centers for Parkinson’s Disease Environmental Research (CCPDER) which were awarded in response to a Request for Applications (RFA) ES-02-003,(http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-ES-02-003.html) Information on the funded centers can be found at http://www.niehs.nih.gov/ccpder/projctrs.htm. The current competition is designed to foster research collaborations between centers with the ultimate goal of expanding their research capabilities. Each center will be allowed to submit up to two applications. Each application is required to involve a substantial and meaningful partnership with at least one other Center. This may include an expansion or creation of resources or an extension of existing research projects. Additional information may be obtained from program staff. The NIEHS proposes to fund up to three awards for $200,000 each per year total cost. These awards would be for three years. All indirect and subcontractual costs between collaborating centers would have to be accommodated by the $200,000/year ceiling. No cost escalations in Years 2-3 would be allowed. Support is contingent on availability of funds and eligibility is restricted to CCPDER researchers previously awarded under RFA ES-02-003. MECHANISM OF SUPPORT: The administrative funding mechanism for this program is a Specialized Center Cooperative Agreement (U54). REVIEW: Appropriate review groups convened by the NIEHS will evaluate the applications for scientific and technical merit.
