Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) is participating, effective immediately, in Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) PAR-24-204 "Summer Research Education Experience Program (R25 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)".

NIBIB strongly encourages potential applicants to contact Program staff in the early stages of developing an application.

Section I. Funding Opportunity Description

NIBIB will support applications focusing on summer research experiences broadly in the areas of advanced bioengineering, sensing, imaging, and computational technologies for the improvement of human health and medical care. NIBIB will only support programs for high school science teachers and community college faculty from STEM-related departments, and not for students. NIBIB strongly encourages participation by individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences in areas that align with the NIBIB mission and Strategic Plan.

Number of Applications

NIBIB will support a maximum of one award per institution and will only consider applications focused on science teachers. It is strongly recommended that potential applicants consult the scientific/research staff at NIBIB listed in Section VII before submitting a second application from the same institution.
