The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), in collaboration with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encouraging applications that focus on the development, translation and use of low-cost medical devices. The purpose of this program is to encourage collaborative research and/or technology development between scientists and engineers in the United States and India. This FOA is expected to be published in fall 2010 with receipt dates commencing in winter 2011. Applicants can apply for grants to develop new medical devices or re-engineer existing diagnostic and therapeutic devices for use in low-resource settings.
