NIBIB NATIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE AWARD INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH TRAINING GRANTS (T32) RELEASE DATE: April 3, 2002 NOTICE: NOT-EB-02-002 National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (http://www.nibib.nih.gov/) The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will award National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Training Grants (T32) to eligible institutions to develop or enhance research training opportunities for individuals, selected by the institution, who are training for careers in multi-disciplinary research concerned with biology and medicine. To facilitate these awards, the NIBIB will participate in NIH program announcement (PA) PA-00-103 titled "NIH National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Grants" (released June 1, 2000). This PA provides specifications for the NIH T32 program including eligibility requirements, application procedures, and review criteria. The purpose of the NRSA program is to ensure that a diverse and highly- trained workforce is available to assume leadership roles in the national biomedical research agenda. Consistent with the mission of the Institute, the NIBIB will award T32 grants in areas associated with bioengineering, biomedical imaging, and multi-disciplinary research aimed at addressing problems in biology and medicine. NIBIB awards will be for either pre-doctoral or post- doctoral research training experiences. Deadlines for pre-doctoral training applications to be received at the NIH in response to this notice are January 10, May 10, and September 10 annually. Post-doctoral training applications will be accepted only for the January 10 deadline annually. Applications will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences" (NIGMS) Biomedical Research and Research Training (BRT) Review Group.
