Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform the applicant community of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of a change in areas of interest that are relevant to PA-20-142, Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grant (Parent T32).

Applications in response to PA-20-142 that propose training programs relevant to the mission-areas of the Division of Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic Diseases (KUH) will not be accepted. KUH provides research funding and support for basic, translational, and clinical research studies of the kidney, urinary tract, and disorders of the blood and blood-forming organs. Further details about KUH mission-areas are available through the hyperlink above.

In lieu of NIDDK/KUH participation in PA-20-142 (Parent T32), NIDDK/KUH plans to invite applications for new, redesigned institutional training programs per NOT-DK-20-024: Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Institutional Network Award for Promoting Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Research Training (U2C/TL1 - Clinical Trial Not Allowed). The new FOA has been developed to address the needs of modern scientific research training and strengthen institutional training supported by the NIDDK/KUH.

NIDDK will continue to participate in PA-20-142 (Parent T32), but programmatic priority will be given to applications proposing training programs relevant to the mission areas of the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases (DEM) and the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (DDN).
