National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)

NIDDK encourages projects aimed at elucidating effects of aging on HIV-related comorbidities within its mission. Topics of interest include gastrointestinal immune and microbial homeostasis, enteropathy, liver and biliary diseases, nutrition, obesity, metabolic/endocrine function and perturbations, kidney disease, urologic dysfunction, and hematologic sequela. NIDDK also encourages projects that interrogate the impact of aging processes on HIV persistence and transmission in the male genital tract and the gastrointestinal mucosa.
