The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases intends to publish two Requests for Applications in support of the Silvio O. Conte Digestive Diseases (DD) Centers program. One RFA will solicit applications for Research Core Centers (P30), the other for Research Development Centers (R24).

Research Core Centers (P30), in addition to providing support for three to six research-support cores, may support an Administrative core, a Pilot and Feasibility program, enrichment activities, and a Named New Investigator. Research Development Centers (R24) provide funds only for one to three research-support cores servicing smaller numbers of investigators at locations where a P30 DD Center is not available.

For either type of Digestive Diseases Center, a key prerequisite is an existing base of funded research investigators engaged in digestive and/or liver diseases research who will make use of the core facilities to advance their research in a cost-effective and collaborative manner.
