Key Dates
Release Date: May 13, 2005
Issued by
National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), (http://www.niddk.nih.gov)
The NIDDK is requesting competing applications from the current awardee of RFA-DK-00-018: PIDEMIOLOGY OF CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN OF THE BLADDER AND INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS. Applications submitted in response to the RFA were to obtain accurate epidemiological information on chronic pelvic pain of bladder origin in the U.S. population over a wide age range, in women and men, and in representative racial and ethnic groups. Because no applications were received that fell within the fundable range, NIDDK decided to supplement an existing grant, the Boston Area Community Health (BACH) study, to obtain the necessary population enrollment and survey data. It was converted to cooperative agreement because of the requirement for substantial government participation in the study. The award was made in June 2001. The current grantee possesses the necessary infrastructure, study population base, organization, and leadership to address the important objectives of assessing trends and onset of symptoms of chronic pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis and other urological conditions.
NIDDK staff will contact the current grantee directly regarding application procedures and format.
