LIMITED COMPETITION REQUEST FOR: BETA CELL BIOLOGY COORDINATING CENTER RELEASE DATE: July 22, 2004 NOTICE: NOT-DK-04-011 (See RFA-DK-09-504) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) (http://www.niddk.nih.gov) The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases is requesting an application from the current provider of administrative infrastructure (BCBC Cooperative Agreement at Vanderbilt) for the Beta Cell Biology Consortium (BCBC) to serve as the Beta Cell Biology Consortium Coordinating Center (BCBCCC). The BCBC is actively engaged in generating new data, tools, reagents and technology towards the goal of developing new cellular therapies in diabetes. Thus, the continuity of existing administrative infrastructure is essential for the success of this ongoing cooperative agreement. The future research projects of the BCBC will be determined by 2 newly released companion RFAs, RFA-DK-04-017 and RFA-DK-04-018, requesting competing continuation applications of U19 projects, as well as, new U19 and U01 applications. The BCBCCC will continue to be the organization responsible for managing and coordinating the BCBC website www.betacell.org, existing and future BCBC reagent databases, BCBC steering committee meetings, BCBC subcommittees, existing and future BCBC scientific cores, and special programs such as the BCBC Pilot and Feasibility Program.
