National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR)
The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) has revised its Clinical Terms of Award (CToA) to include information about NIDCRs expectations on accrual and retention (A&R) monitoring of its clinical research portfolio. A&R monitoring expectations include NIDCRs acceptance of a Study Accrual and Retention Plan, routine reporting of participant accrual, retention, and key study dates, and identification of accrual and/or retention challenges and strategies for improvement. Award recipients will complete these elements through the NIDCR Clinical Research Management System (CRMS). The CToA revision also includes additional updates to clarify NIDCR expectations in relation to additional oversight documentation and activities.
The revised CToA is effective immediately and applies to all competing New, Renewal, Resubmission, and Revision awards involving human subjects, funded on or after this date, that require additional oversight or monitoring by NIDCR. It also applies to active awards that NIDCR determines to require additional safety and/or A&R monitoring under the revised terms of award. For active awards currently subject to CToA, new methods of accrual and retention monitoring in the revised terms do not apply unless the recipient is otherwise notified by NIDCR.
