Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to announce two virtual information sessions for individuals interested in NIDCD fellowship funding or loan repayment opportunities. NIDCD supports biomedical and behavioral research and research training in the normal and disordered processes of hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, and language.

NIDCD Fellowship Pre-Application Webinar

During the information session, NIDCD staff will provide an overview of available individual fellowship mechanisms, present details related to the application timeline and provide strategies for writing strong applications. Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend and ask questions. An effort will be made to include ample time for questions. The next individual fellowship application due date is August 8th, 2026. Attending this information session is not a requirement for submission. 

Why attend? Learn more about the NIDCD individual fellowship program, the application process, and tips for writing strong applications. 
Who should attend? All individuals interested in applying for a fellowship award through NIDCD. Individuals should have research interests in hearing, balance, taste, smell, voice, speech, or language.

NIDCD Loan Repayment Program (LRP) Webinar

The NIH Loan Repayment Programs (LRPs) are a set of programs established by Congress and designed to recruit and retain highly qualified health professionals into biomedical or biobehavioral research careers. The escalating costs of advanced education and training in medicine and clinical specialties are forcing some scientists to abandon their research careers for higher-paying private industry or private practice careers. The LRPs counteract that financial pressure by repaying up to $50,000 annually of a researcher’s qualified educational debt in return for a commitment to engage in NIH mission-relevant research. This webinar will provide an overview of the NIH Loan Repayment Programs, including eligibility, the application process, and tips for preparing a competitive application to NIDCD. Time will be reserved for questions. The webinar will not be recorded.

Health professionals and researchers conducting research in NIDCD’s mission area who intend to apply to NIH loan repayment opportunities.
