Notice of Intent for the "NIDCD SMALL GRANT (R03) PROGRAM" (PAR-04-062): Upcoming Changes
Notice Number: NOT-DC-06-002
Key Dates
Release Date: March 9, 2006
Issued by
National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), (http://www.nidcd.nih.gov)
The purpose of this notice is to advise potential applicants that three receipt dates remain for the current NIDCD Small Grant Program (PAR 04-062): March 15, 2006 , July 14, 2006 , and November 15, 2006. The NIDCD Small Grant (R03) Program will expire November 16, 2006 and will not be re-issued. Therefore,
- Those individuals at or near the 10 year milestone past the date of receipt of their terminal degree (excluding years of clinical training, i.e. internship, residency, and fellowship training) should consider applying for one of the three remaining receipt dates if they wish to take advantage of the 10 year eligibility period. The length of the eligibility period will be reduced in the announcement that replaces the current PAR-04-062 (see below).
- Eligible applications received on the receipt dates listed above will still be accepted under the current guidelines (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-04-062.html).
- Beginning June 1, 2006 , all R03 applications must be submitted electronically (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-05-067.html).
NIDCD plans to publish a new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for its Small Grant Program during the summer of 2006. The first receipt date will be in March 2007.
- The new NIDCD Small Grant Program FOA direct cost amount will be increased from $50,000 to $100,000 per year for up to 3 years of support.
- The number of eligible years post-degree will be reduced to 7 years in order to be more closely aligned with widely accepted boundaries for postdoctoral training.
