Purpose

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announces the orderly phase-out and termination of its Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) Award (R37) Program for established investigators.

There are no changes for current NIDA MERIT (R37) grant recipients. All non-competing commitments for future year support made to current NIDA MERIT (R37) grant recipients will continue to be honored as indicated on the applicable current Notice of Award.

Effective immediately, no new nominations for NIDA MERIT (R37) award to established investigators will be made. However, requests for extensions will be processed in the usual manner.
