Purpose
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) plans to solicit proposals from qualified organizations having in-house capability to perform in vivo rodent and primate pharmacology studies of new drugs of abuse and potential pharmacotherapies for drug dependence disorders. A solicitation will be released through the Federal Business Opportunities website (URL: https://www.fbo.gov/). Proposals will be due approximately 45 days from the release date of this RFP.
Research Initiative Details
This contract will acquire services to support the evaluation, in both rodents and primates, of potential pharmacotherapies for drug dependence disorders. It will also provide support for abuse liability-related testing of new street drugs, medications, or potential medications in rodents and primates. The primary emphasis is on testing conducted for NIDA's Addiction Treatment Discovery Program (ATDP). To a lesser extent, the contract will generate abuse liability data for use in decisions pertaining to scheduling of drugs under domestic laws (Controlled Substances Act) and international treaties (Single Convention and Psychotropic Convention). The anticipated deliverables will be written reports detailing study findings.
