National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), (http://www.nida.nih.gov)

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announces a subset of active program announcements (PAs) that are of sufficiently high priority to warrant a set-aside of NIDA Special Emphasis funds ($3M for FY2006). Applications of high scientific merit that are responsive to these PAs and that do not get selected for payment with regular research project grant funds, will be considered for support with the special set-aside funds. These funds are separate from those for Requests for Applications and other initiatives. Though set-aside funds have not been allocated for future years, these PAs will be active through FY2008. In addition to the criterion for responsiveness, applications must be of sufficiently high merit and program relevance to warrant funding.

Specific PAs on the Special Emphasis list may change over time, according to NIDA's funding priorities. Therefore, it is important that potential applicants refer to the following website for the most current list of PAs in this special category:

The list of all active NIDA PAs is located at: http://www.nida.nih.gov/funding/resfundslist.html.
