National Institute of Drug Abuse
PROJECT: CPDD ANTINOCICEPTION, PHYSICAL DEPENDENCE AND ABUSE LIABILITY TESTING
Under the upcoming solicitation, The National Institute on Drug Abuse is
soliciting proposals from qualified organizations having the in-house
capability to evaluate the antinociceptive activity of test compounds in mice,
evaluate the effects of test compounds in opiate dependent rats and rhesus
monkeys, evaluate the intrinsic physical dependence capacity of test compounds
in drug-na ve rhesus monkeys, and assess the reinforcing properties of test
compounds in rhesus monkey self-administration studies. The successful
offeror must indicate possession of current DEA Registration for Schedules II-
V substances prior to award and demonstrate either possession of or ability to
obtain a DEA Research Registration for Schedule I under the Controlled
Substance Act of 1970. This work currently is being performed by the Virginia
Commonwealth University under Contract N01DA-5-8059. NIDA anticipates
awarding a cost-reimbursement, five-year contract with optional quantities.
RFP No. N01DA-1-7725 will be available electronically on or about January 31,
2001, and may be accessed through the Internet at the following address:

the submission of an offer will be contained in the electronic RFP package.
Response to the RFP will be due on or about March 20, 2001. Any responsible
offeror may submit a proposal that will be considered by the Government. This
advertisement does not commit the Government to award a contract.
