Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to add a correction and clarification in PAR-17-129 "Quantitative Imaging Tools and Methods for Cancer Response assessment (U01)".

The following subsections of the FOA have been modified (in italics).

Current and former QIN members who submit to this FOA are indicating their interest in continuing their research objectives outlined in their previous application. As a result, an application to this announcement by QIN members will be considered a renewal of the previous research. If the QIN member is considering specific aims and research activities that represent a new research direction, application must be made through PAR-17-129.

Current and former QIN members who submit to this FOA are indicating their interest in continuing their research objectives in a direction that builds from the research results of the previous quantitative imaging project. If the research emphasizes the validation of previously developed and optimized tools or methods, the application to this FOA can be considered a renewal. If, on the other hand, the research intends to demonstrate the use of an existing tool or method in a new cancer environment or intends to expand the capabilities of a previously developed tool or method in some other direction, the application to this FOA can be considered to be a new application. If the QIN member is considering specific aims and research activities that represent a completely new research direction requiring the development and optimization of new tools or methods, application must be made through PAR-17-128.
