Addendum Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs) in Human Cancer for the Year 2004

Notice Number: NOT-CA-05-001

Key Dates
Release Date: October 13, 2004

Issued by
National Cancer Institute (NCI) (http://www.nci.nih.gov)

This notice is to draw the attention of applicants responding to PAR-03-158.

This addendum is to clarify for applicants the qualifying cancer sites for Gynecological Cancer SPOREs. The GYN or Gynecological Cancer SPORE solicitation is intended for applications focused predominantly on cancers of the endometrium and/or cervix. Applicants cannot propose projects on ovarian cancer; Ovarian Cancer SPOREs are solicited independent of other GYN cancers. Any questions regarding the eligibility or responsiveness of a GYN Cancer SPORE application should be directed to Dr. Jane Fountain, the program director for the Gynecological Cancer SPOREs.

This addendum also serves to remind applicants of the change in the Receipt Date for Gynecological Cancer SPOREs under Program Announcement PAR-03-158 (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-03-158.html). The change in receipt date was originally posted on June 25, 2004, and indicated in NOT-CA-04-023.

That change is as follows:

The application receipt date for Gynecological Cancer SPOREs has been changed from October 1, 2004, to February 1, 2005. Individuals intending to apply for a Gynecological Cancer SPORE should submit their applications on or before February 1, 2005. The Letter-of-Intent receipt date for Gynecological Cancer SPOREs has also been changed accordingly to December 1, 2004. Potential applicants should inform the Organ Systems Branch of their intent to submit an application on or before December 1, 2004, and provide the requested information listed in PAR-03-158. The receipt dates for all other SPOREs (i.e., Myeloma, Genitourinary, and Breast Cancer) listed in PAR-03-158 are not affected by this change for Gynecological Cancer SPOREs.

The new expiration date for PAR-03-158 is February 2, 2005.
