NOTICE OF LIMITED COMPETITION REQUEST FOR COMPETING APPLICATIONS: NCI COOPERATIVE BREAST CANCER TISSUE REGISTRY Release Date: August 30, 2002 NOTICE: NOT-CA-02-024 National Cancer Institute (NCI) (http://cancer.gov) The NCI is requesting competing renewal applications from the four participating institutions of the NCI Cooperative Breast Cancer Tissue Registry (CBCTR) which was last re-competed in 1998. This re- competition will continue a unique ongoing project at a reduced level and scope for a limited time. The NCI wants to maintain the current size and structure of the CBCTR since an organizational change would reduce the number and change the composition of cases currently available to the research community. Maintaining the current cases is particularly important now because the CBCTR is providing tissue micro- arrays with these tissue specimens and any change in its composition would seriously hamper research that depends on access to those specimens and data. Continued availability of the more than 9,000 cases already accessioned to the Resource is also critical to the NCI's ability to evaluate the Resource's scientific impact during the next three years. NCI staff will contact the current grantees directly regarding application procedures and format. INQUIRIES Written and telephone inquiries concerning this may be directed to: Roger L.
