Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to announce a change in the types of applications that will be supported by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) for the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) RFA-MH-18-400 "Addressing Suicide Research Gaps: Aggregating and Mining Existing Data Sets for Secondary Analyses (R01)”.

Funding Opportunity Description

Particular research topics of interest under this announcement include, but are not limited to:
Currently reads:

  • Analyses of complementary and integrative prevention and treatment interventions datasets across the lifespan to examine impact of interventions on suicidal ideation and behaviors
  • Analyses of datasets across the lifespan containing information on complementary approaches (e.g., mindfulness, gratefulness, loving kindness) to examine their potential role in decreasing risk for suicidal ideation and behaviors

Modified to read as:

  • Analyses of datasets that permit the study of the impact of complementary and integrative approaches (e.g., mindfulness based stress reduction, meditation, yoga, acupuncture, and/or integrative care) on suicidal ideation and behaviors; studies at any phase of the lifespan are of interest.
  • Analyses of datasets that examine impact of natural products (e.g., botanicals, dietary supplements, and pre/probiotics), dietary status (e.g., omega 3 fatty acids or vitamin D), or ketogenic diet, alone or in the context of other approaches on suicidal ideation and behaviors; studies at any phase of the lifespan are of interest.
