Notice Number: NOT-AT-06-007

Key Dates
Release Date: July 26, 2006

Issued by
National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) (http://www.nccam.nih.gov/)

This Notice is to indicate NCCAM’s participation of Program Announcement PA-06-419 (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-06-419.html).

NCCAM is interested in applications rigorously addressing clinical and mechanistic research questions in the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) using multi-disciplinary approaches that extend beyond the traditional biological and clinical sciences. In particular, bioengineering approaches to understanding CAM are encouraged that will integrate principles and techniques from engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, material sciences, mathematics, biostatistics, and/or computer sciences. Research applications should address one of the CAM domains (mind-body, biologically based, manipulative and body-based, energy systems, or whole systems). NCCAM is also interested in the interactions of CAM therapies with conventional treatments, and in collaborations including CAM practitioners or researchers, as well as in collaborations between clinical and preclinical researchers. For NCCAM’s policy on the quality of natural products, see http://nccam.nih.gov/research/policies/naturalproducts.htm.
