REGIONAL TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH CENTERS SUMMER MEETING

One of the NIH Roadmap (http://nihroadmap.nih.gov) initiatives proposed to 
facilitate Re-engineering the Clinical Research Enterprise is establishment 
of Regional Translational Research Centers.  

In an effort to receive broad input from all relevant constituencies and 
stakeholders, NIH will hold a one-day meeting on July 16, 2004 in Bethesda, 
Maryland.  If you are interested in attending this meeting, please go to  
http://nccam.nih.gov/rtrc/index.htm .  Self-nomination forms will be 
available by June 11, 2004.  We will be able to accommodate up to twenty 
attendees selected from these self-nominations.  Staff will review these 
self-nominations and make selections from them in an effort to ensure a wide 
diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.  The self-nomination period will 
be open until June 17, 2004.  The selected prospective attendees will be 
notified by July 2, 2004.

As NIH may not be able to accommodate all parties interested in attending, it 
is our intention to set up a comment area on the Roadmap website to 
facilitate input by all interested parties.  Comments will be invited both 
prior and subsequent to the meeting, after which a summary will be posted on 
the web.  Efforts will also be made to webcast portions of the meeting to 
allow the broadest possible participation.

It is our hope that you will regard NIH’s efforts as  your Roadmap  and that 
you will share your ideas and wisdom with us.  We look forward to hearing 
from you.
